After much clamoring from the judges, the competition is over for Scott MacIntyre on "American Idol." The 23-year-old piano player from Scottsdale, Ariz., who crooned Survivor's "The Search is Over" in hopes of being saved by the judges, received the fewest number of viewer votes.

Austin's, Maseno, Laiser Hill & Friends Kamusinga Thru To Final 4

Stop Download:
Austin's finally made it the Final 4 after thrashing Meru High this afternoon. Laiser Hill had already sailed through after beating Austin's yesterday and their victory over Nyeri High today means that they go as the top team in the group.
Friends Kamusinga seem to be having the time of their life as they coasted to an easy victory over Shimba. They now have a date with destiny tomorrow as they face of with Nairobi Champions St. Austin's. Laiser Hill (Rift) meet Maseno (Nyanza) in the other semi final.
LA High, who also made it the Final 4 yesterday, went down to Tigoi Girls today and will have to go into the knock out stage as the runners up. It's looking like the girls from Nairobi are going to be meeting Coasto's Shimba High.
Hockey
A Hillcrest Girls (name witheld) player had to be airlifted from Embu today after suffering a broken jaw and loss of four teeth. The injury happened after a brutal tackle during the game with Keru Gee. Hillcrest however made it to hockey's version of the Final 4 after a well deserved victory over Matuga Girls.

Maseno Bounce Back From Shock Defeat

Defending B Ball champs Maseno (Nyanza) bounced back from a shock defeat by Friends Kamusinga (Western) to register a 60-51 victory over Shimba Hills High (Coast).
All is not at the Maseno camp though. It was pretty clear that the lakeside lads laboured to contain and eventually wrap up their victory over the seaside boys. Though Maseno lead all the way, it was not until the 4th quarter that they started to open up a gap against the boys from Shimba Hills. Maseno depended too much on forward Samuel Odera and seem to have a lack in depth in their bench. Having lead 13-11 in quarter 1, Shimba pushed them all the way and Maseno could only manage a 26-23 lead at the half. At the closing of Q3, Maseno was ahead 48-43 with star Shimba Hills guard Mwalimu Heri causing all kinds of trouble for Maseno.
In the other Group B match up, Friends Kamusinga confirmed their Final 4 place with a 156-24 thumping of Wajir High (North Eastern).
In Group A match up’s, Laiser Hill (Rift Valley) also confirmed their Final 4 place with a 51- 44 victory over St. Austin’s (Nairobi).
New comers LA High (Nairobi) also made good their promise of at least making it to the Final 4 by beating perennial campaigners Raliew (Nyanza) 38-34. In the Group B match up, Tigoi (Rift Valley) beat Bush Galz (Central) 78-62. LA High and Tigoi clash this morning to determine the winners of Group B.
Hockey
Kerugoya Girls (Central) shocked multiple national champions Hillcrest (Nairobi) to win 1-0 and in the process make it to hockey’s Final 4. Popularly known as Keru Gee, Kerugoya Girls started their campaign by conquering Matuga Girls 2-0 in their opening match. St. Anthony’s (Rift) also made it to the Final 4 (boys) by beating Chogoria Boys (Eastern) 2-0. Shimo (Coast) defeated Kianyaga (Central) 2-1 to raise their chances of advancing to the knock out stages.

Austin's B Ball Off To A Sizzling Start

The 2009 edition of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) finally kicked off at Kangaru High (Eastern Province) in Embu yesterday. As always, the B Ball courts is where all the hot action was and what a sizzling event it was.
Nairobi reps St. Austin’s kicked off their 2009 campaign by thrashing Central’s reps Nyeri High 78-58. Nairobi Final Four MVP Kevin Omide got the tournament’s first triple double when he netted 31 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists.
In Group B matches, Rift reps Laiser Hill Academy obliterated the host province’s team, Meru School, 121 – 22! Vincent Maina was the highest scorer for Laiser Hill netting a low 21 points. Defending champions Maseno (Nyanza), got off to a rocky start in the tournament’s biggest upset so far, going down to lowly ranked Kamusinga (Western) 64-75.
However, the day’s biggest shocker was Shimba Girls’ (Coast) basketball team thumping Manor House (Rift) 123-9. Other scores were St. Angela 117 – Wajir 0. Obviously, there’s a very huge talent gap in girls’ basketball that KSSSA needs to fill in.

Chris Brown Appears in Court

Controversial R&B singer Chris Brown appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom today (April 6), where he pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of aggravated assault and criminal threats. The 19-year-old singer was charged for his role in the violent beating of his girlfriend and superstar artist Rihanna, during an argument on February 8. Brown was charged for choking, biting and punching Rihanna, his 21-year-girlfriend. The R&B singer arrived at the courthouse around 3:30 PT, greeted by reporters and screaming fans. Brown’s not guilty plea comes as attorney Mark Geragos is seeking to negotiate a plea deal with prosecutors to prevent the teen from being charged with a felony. He is seeking to avoid having a “strike” on Brown’s record under California’s Three Strikes law. According to reports, Brown and Rihanna have taken a break from their relationship, yet are still an item. Brown has been receiving counseling, while Rihanna has been spotted in Los Angeles, New York, Barbados and L.A. since the beating.
